There is an ancient saying that “ a healthy man has many wishes and a sick man has one”
Poppy Phillips Mehlhaff learned the true meaning of that in 1999 when she dove in to a highly chlorinated swimming pool at a four star hotel in Cairo,Egypt. Pool water splashed in her face and she inhaled water up her nose. With in an instant her life changed. Her limbs tingled and went numb. Something bad had just happened. It was the first day of a two week trip. Poppy crawled, doubled over, around Egypt and Turkey running high fevers and semi delirious collapsing in public areas. The group she was with was fearful to take Poppy to the hospital since she was in a foreign country and allergic to several antibiotics.
From that moment when Poppy signed her contract with God, everything started to look up. She literally studied for her life. It took about nine months for Poppy to be on an up swing and two years until she regained all her stamina and strength. Poppy went from chaos to Christ. That nightmare turned out to be the biggest blessing of her life.
Being in a situation like this sets a new priority list and all that seemed important slips away. Just to be able to function became an appreciation. Since that incident, Poppy’s goal has been to explore and examine the potential power of God in all aspects. Trying to understand the nature of disease, imbalances, and love. She observed that what worked for one may not work for another. What she noticed was that a person with a strong faith of God usually had a positive outcome from a negative situation. Poppy fully believes that she was not miraculously cured in a blink of an eye for the pure fact of being able to be educated so she could share this blessing with others. Poppy has personally vowed to represent God; trusting in a God that is so much more than this conventional life could offer. She promises to continue to search for new methods, God willing, to obtain healthy and blessed outcomes.
Mark 9: 23 “If you can?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for him who believes.”
